Notes

Ever since visiting Memphis, I’ve been listening to a lot of Elvis (My late Italian grandma’s Elvis obsession must finally be rubbing off on me). Memphis is a fascinating city with so much history that you can feel just walking around the streets (the original ‘House of Blues’ is on Beale Street; the Lorraine Hotel where Martin Luther King was assassinated is still perfectly intact; so are Graceland and Sun Records, where many great artists recorded legendary tracks). The city has so many beautiful old buildings as well.

Unfortunately much of the downtown core is empty and various attempts are being made to revitalize the city’s heart (particularly the South Main area, which went downhill after Martin Luther King was assassinated there). I’ll write more about that in a future post. In the meantime, here is a clip from the one and only.
